Sport Lived Social: Scavenger Hunt

We had our first Sport Lived social today – a scavenger hunt through the city.
Naturally we won 😉
And in this case, winners get koala bear keyrings.

It was nice meeting everyone, particularly Nic and Pheobe, our Sport Lived social secs, I guess you could call them.
Being in Quest, there’s a danger to feel quite isolated from the rest of the Sport Lived people. Particularly for me: I’m the only swimmer here – the rest are pretty much divided between tennis, cricket and rowing.
They’ve all already met each other. It works in my favour in terms of work, but with there being such a large group in town it’s impossible to not feel like you’ve been left out of the clique.

But the scavenger hunt was a great way to get around the city – we were all mixed up in our teams so we got to know some of the other guys, and I feel a little more sure of where I’m going now.
While we were there, we spotted one of the red hop on hop off buses – I’m going to bully the rest of the flat into going on one of these tours! They’re so much fun and it’s a great way to feel your way around without being worried about getting too lost. There’s also a free tram that runs round the CBD, which also gives you a bit of info about where you are.

We had a great spot on the river for our BBQ lunch.
Something I already love about Australia is the BBQs in parks and along the river – anything BBQed is better in my opinion and it’s such an alien concept: it’s not that we wouldn’t want it in England, you just couldn’t do it!
Even though Melbourne has a reputation for it’s changeable weather, these BBQ spots are very popular, particularly in the summer!

On the way back from our scavenger hunt, Cam found a hill with a fantastic view of the city.
As we were heading home, we stopped off on the hill for a little while to sit and enjoy the sunshine in our new city, and of course make the most of the photo opp!

The sky looks so blue in my pictures! It was a glorious day :)

Are we all ready for the panorama?

I will go back into town at some point for another nose around, but at the moment, getting used to Chapel Street and Prahran is enough of a challenge!
